Our friend Linda gave us the original chickens as a housewarming gift, since we had an empty chicken house and yard and she couldn't bear to see it go to waste! We've bought additional chicks since then, and had one hatch here (Tori, crowing above). We really enjoy how they interact with us and with each other. There's something relaxing about watching them. The eggs are just a bonus, and it's fun to surprise people with the green eggs that several of them lay.
